PLEADING OUR CASE BEFORE GOD

Just like lawyers quote acts/legal documents to present their cases we need the word of God to declare His promises in our life.

Jesus overcame temptation by using the word of God. Luke 4.1ff .We can overcome and win temptation and storms in our lives if we know how to plead our case. God depends on us to come back to Him with His word. He is calling us not to just stand on His word but to remind Him of his work on our behalf.

Isaiah 43:26 “Put me in remembrance, let us plead together, and declare that you may be justified.” This calls for us to know the word of God, our law, God can only rule in our favour if our case is based on His precedence, His word.

1 John 3:22-23 “And whatever we ask, we receive of him because we keep his commandments and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.”

The above calls for us to know what the word is telling us to do, then declare it in our lives’ revisit it and keep claiming the word against what the devil is saying.

Reading the word and meditating on it also helps to birth a vision in our lives. In studying the word you see how it ought to be, God lays a burden in our hearts and shows us how to deal with it. The word further strengthens us when we are ridiculed or discourages teaching us how to respond to threats and challenges in life.

Problems are most times opportunities to make us stronger in Christ but without the word as our anchor we miss out on our blessings.

This is of course easily said than done especially with life’s demands and living life on the fast lane but the word gives one of the Holy Spirit’s name as Advocate. John 14:15-17 “...And i will ask the father and He will give you another advocate who will never leave you. He is the holy spirit who leads us in truth.”

Wow with the Holy Spirit as our advocate, Favour will only stop when we accept the devil’s accusations, so come on together with your advocate start applying some of those promises. Psalm 23 is a good place to start. “The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want...”

Learning To Be A Thankful People.

It must be true that True thankfulness is a sacrifice.Just look back at the times you have said "thank you",Was it a matter of courtesy or was it a genuine expression of your gratefulness?
Whatever the case,it is important that we learn to be a thankful people. It is not only important in our day to day relationship with people but also with God.
Thankfulness should be a nature act for believers.
The great king David was always thankful. In 1 Chronicles 16:4, David appointed some of the levites to lead the worship of the Lord, the God of Israel infront of the convenant Box by singing and praising Him.
At all times,we have something to be grateful about. Our happiness should not depend on a set of circumstances but on the attitude.
Our God wills that we should be thankful. Fair enough right now you may not have enough 'money' for what you want but what about that person who doesn't even have the basic needs.Surely some gratefulness should be shown for the little we have.

2010

I declare this year as a blessed year.
A year when my dreams will become true in the name of our Lord Jesus.
The year I start living My life.
The year that destiny is fulfilled.

First quarter has been really good,i have pushed myself to conquer even when i should have failed or given up.
I have seen some of my dreams already start to materialise and naturally sometimes i have been stopped in my footsteps.
The best thing though is i haven't let the negative stop me,instead i have pushed on trying to see things from God's point of view, not always easy but am keeping the focus on things above.

Fresh Look,Fresh Focus.

The Answer.

God is looking to be God in our lives, question is are we looking for Him to be Lord of ours, and if so what are we doing about it???

It honestly doesn’t take much considering that a relationship with Him is purely based on love and grace oh yeah and faith, a hard one for most especially when we bring in realism. After all for most of our dreams and aspirations to move from the mist of the night into the light of the day, His light we must surrender totally to God.

So what does it take for us to respond to His love, nothing. Simply to love him back for after all we love Him because he first loved us. God is our Initiator so we are at our best when we are responding to Him. If only it was that easy cause it is one thing to say I accept you as my Lord and saviour and another to do the walk, putting Him before our everything and making Him our everything.

If it is any consolation the whole of our Christian life is a response…but to what exactly do we or to who do we respond to? That is the challenge; I guess that is where God comes in and not just but with love, grace, mercy and what ever else goes to make sure that we don’t lose track in our journey. His hand is truly on us even when we least expect it or even deserve it.

If only like Joshua we can proclaim and declare that we will dwell in His house all the days of our lives, then He will truly be Lord of our lives. If we simply saturate ourselves with worship and prayer then He will transform our lives. I have been here too long and it hasn’t always been clear but I have learnt that if I simply do my part which half of the time isn’t, follow His lead through His word, He will not only meet me half way but see me to the end. The result a happy me, at least for now.Praise His Holy name.

We Will Remember

Last week I visited the Slave trade museum in Liverpool, North West of England. I’m well versed with the slave trade story, having not only done a history paper in this subject but also watched the movie Roots a couple of times. However there was something so raw about the museum experience that brought it home. We are privileged to be where are and to have this level of acceptance. We have lived to see a black man become the head of one of the worlds if not the greatest superpower nation. The slaves and the men of honour who fought for where we are could only dream of such a day. Their hard work is not forgotten and here is a thank you note that they endured the good fight.

There was no bill to discuss
You were lured with gifts
With dreams for a better life.
Out of your own will you were
taken off to the so called greener pastures.
They didn’t ask how you felt but were quick to
Fill their boats, all the chiefs and the traders cared about was
The deal, and once on the water came the seal to bind you
Freedom was but all gone
But you didn’t give up
You swallowed the pill and did what you had to do
To not only stay alive but to keep the fire burning
Till a way was made, because of the stories carried by you from generation
To generation
We are here today
Because of the good fight you kept up.
We are free today
We Owe you big.
Thanks
We will always Remember.
